Bradley Zelder can’t find his way in life. After struggling for nearly a decade, he has yet to complete his college degree. Working as a school custodian, living in blue-collar Landsbury, MA, his love life is as empty as the rest of his existence. But on his way home after another disastrous date, his truck breaks down in upscale Oceanside. When he thinks life can’t get any worse, a man who is the epitome of Boston elite and everything Bradley finds attractive and intimidating helps him move his truck to the side of the road. Ashamed of his lot in life, Bradley almost lets the opportunity slip away, but he comes to his senses in time and tracks Caleb down.

From a random act of kindness, romance begins to grow, filling all the dark corners of Bradley’s empty life—until a random act of violence threatens to take it all away. Bradley must step up and be the man Caleb believes him to be. Caleb rescued him from a life without hope. Can Bradley rescue him in return?

This was not what I expected. This was an emotional rollercoaster ride I didn't expect. The very first paragraph made me feel like I was watching a very intimate act, and the act was Bradley's self talk. I was uncomfortable. I was embarrassed. I felt guilty. My stomach was in knots. I wanted to stop reading. I couldn't put it down. I adored Bradley. I understood his voice. It's my voice. His self talk? My self talk. Caleb? He got under my skin. He was oh so perfect, in control, all stiff and self assured. I thought I didn't like him. I couldn't understand his voice. But then, Mia, she punched my heart and said, 'pay attention, watch, listen and learn'. I did; and then I heard Bradley say 'But random good things can happen too'. 'Random works both ways, babe.' I did; then I heard Caleb say 'Part of having a future together is letting me help you through the moments like this. I need to be your rock too, sometimes, Bradley.' So, yeah, I get it now. I get how Caleb and Bradley are like a Christmas puzzle - a little uneven, a little too much glue, a little too sloppy, but perfect. Perfect for each other.

I will say again. This was not what I expected. This was an emotional rollercoaster ride I didn't expect. I am still feeling emotional, in a good thoughtful way. Well done, Mia. Well done.

Random Acts edition by Mia Kerick Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I loved it not my normal type be book but I'm glad I gat it and read it all in one day. Worth the read
I enjoyed this book. There is a nice romance. The insecurities of the characters got a bit much at times but I did enjoy reading how they grew together as a couple.
Another beautiful story by Mia!

Bradley and Caleb both have their own separate issues, but together they are strong and whole. As evidenced by the puzzle at the end.

Mia never indicates that Angela is part of the plot, but the timing of the bouquet and her arrival at the guest house lead one to believe she was in it from the start.
What an enjoyable book! I found the story very engaging from page 1. There was an actual plot, with a few twists and turns. The book kept my interest all the way through. i especially liked Bradley. What a down to earth, real guy. I was routing for him to "get" what a great guy he is, something he never understood until Caleb had the insight, patience, and goodness to make Bradley see how amazing he really was. Random Acts is a wonderful book, a book a very much enjoyed reading.
On the surface, the MC's in Random Acts would not appear to be compatible. Brad is a custodian at an elementary school trying to finish studying to become a nurse. He's had numerous hookups with women and a few with men. He appears to be just floating by in life. Caleb, a middle school teacher comes from a wealthy family, appears to be confident, knows what he wants and how to get there. He had been a in a long-term relationship and certainly not interested in hookups.

So in one random act they meet. They slowly discover that not only are they compatible, but they complete and strengthen each other. And then in one random act of violence, their love is put to the test.

I've come to love Ms. Kerick's writing style. It is fluid as if you are watching a movie. I loved the dialog between Caleb and Brad. They really captured Brad's insecurities and Caleb's vulnerabilities. I love Ms. Kerick's YA books, and I'm starting to love her adult books too!
I normally enjoy Mia Kerick. I have absolutely loved some of her YA novels.

This book did not hit the mark for me, and I'm sorry about that. I could not wait for it to come out, an adult novel from Mia Kerick, and the premise sounded great, I had my money out in a flash.

Unfortunately, Caleb was far too perfect. As a leading character he was just too good to be true -- even for a romance. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop -- there has to be something wrong with Caleb. Nope. He's just that perfect. Sadly. Bradley was by far the more interesting character, and paired with someone else, this book might have come alive.

While it touched on important issues, such as trauma and a hate crime, I was simply not engaged. I'd happily read this author again (as I have in the past), but this one was not a good read, for me.
